An interesting article in The Age ‘Hulls pushes for phone camera laws’ raises some interesting issues surrounding privacy. This article highlights some of the implications of a rapidly evolving technology, which is always one step ahead of the law.
ARG and Convergent Game Project
A world that I have not previously experienced is slowly revealing itself to me through researching the convergent game that we are required to design for EM 1. Until now I haven’t played or had any interest in computer games. So to set about designing a sophisticated game that incorporates multiple media technologies is not only an unlikely project but also a challenging one.
I have come across some interesting links including an article in The Age ‘Down the rabbit hole’ which explores the intriguing concept of alternate reality game (ARG). In the context of convergent game design, the article presents a range of interesting possibilities for utilising multiple media technologies.
An excellent resource I’ve found is the Alternate Reality Gaming Network (ARGN). The site supports a network of independent websites and an extensive online community dedicated to ARG. Some interesting sites supported by the network include:

The perspectives, content and commentary presented on each of the sites offer a different spin on the ARG genre. Sometimes quirky, often humorous and certainly intriguing the various sites make interesting reading for evolving MetaUrchins
